Why a website over a Patreon or SM?
2/8/2024
This… is a very long question. I hate social media, mostly because what it claims to do and what it actually does feel very different. I’ll probably have to write something about that at some point. I have many, many thoughts.
Essentially, there are many reasons.
I wanted to create a space that didn’t feel like you had to rush through the content available to you. I wanted people to feel like they could come to see my stuff, relax, and enjoy it without there being any sort of demand on them for interaction, keeping up with trends, etc. I wanted it to feel like people could just come here and have fun without feeling like they had to rush.
I wanted to have control over how things looked. Patreon and SM (social media) don’t really let you do that. There aren’t many SM platforms (that I know of) that encourage creating a collection or a static environment full of resources. They sort of fall along the lines more of a feed, rather than a library. And I wanted a library!
I wanted to be able to work on my terms, in my time. I am disabled, so that’s really important for me.
